The Science Behind REPO

Before starting the actual formulation process for RePo Energy, we thoroughly studied other products on the market and determined the optimal blend of herbs, vitamins, minerals and chemicals naturally produced by our bodies. While carefully considering the chemical, physiological, and biological properties of each ingredient in order to effectively counter possible side effects, we created an energy shot in which each ingredient plays a unique role, while boosting the performance of the other ingredients. Our energy shot has a proprietary energy blend totaling 3230 mg compared to two of the leading brands on the market containing 1750 and 175 mg of their respective energy blends.

The final product was formulated after years of study of both ancient Ayurvedic herbal knowledge and modern cutting-edge research.

Ashwaganda

An Ayurvedic herb which has been used in South Asia for centuries for its many beneficial effects on the body. Ashwagandha, along with ginseng, belongs to the “Adaptogen“ class of herbs which help our body deal better with stress, be it physical, mental, or biological. It is sometimes called “Indian Ginseng“ because of the many effects it shares with the East Asian wonder herb. Ashwaganda is taken as a supplement to help calm the mind and for its anti-anxiety effect.

Caffeine

Probably the most popular and well known stimulant used by hundreds of millions of people all over the world. The caffeine in REPO! is natural and extracted from real coffee rather than a synthetic version. Synthetic caffeine used in most energy drinks is one of the causes of the dreaded energy “crash.” Caffeine is a stimulant of the central nervous system and in moderate doses it causes increased alertness and lessens fatigue; it also increases heart rate and blood pressure. In excessive doses it can cause over stimulation of the brain with increased nervousness, anxiety and palpitations. For these reasons, we have 170 mg of caffeine in our shot compared to the more than 200 mg to 300 mg of caffeine in leading popular shots. We have specifically added botanicals like Ginger, Turmeric, black pepper and the amino acid Arginine, all of which have vasodilating and blood pressure lowering effects (among other short term and long term beneficial effects) to counter some of the blood pressure raising effect of both Caffeine and Ginseng.

Cane Sugar

The most popular natural sweetener and it has a very important role to play in RePo. The glucose molecule is the only source of energy for our working brain cells (neurons). While other energy shots tout their no/low calorie status, it is of utmost importance that the brain cells, while being stimulated to increase their work, be provided with glucose, their only fuel source. Supplying brain cells with stimulants without providing them fuel for proper functioning is like jump starting the dead battery of your car without putting gas in its empty tank. If you don’t think it is a smart idea for your car, you can be sure that it isn’t for your brain cells either.

While preparing this formula, we addressed the dreaded “crash” that occurs frequently after taking other energy shots. The lack of sugar/fuel plays a big role in this “crash” and this problem does not exist with our shot during its testing stages. In our shot, cane sugar provides 30 calories, which is only 1% of the daily recommended intake of calories. Another benefit of the addition of cane sugar is that there is no “medicinal” aftertaste, a major complaint of the users of other low/no calorie energy shots.

Ginger

Botanically related to Turmeric and shares many of the same benefits. Additionally, it soothes the GI tract and has a powerful anti-nausea effect. Research shows that if taken regularly, ginger helps lower cholesterol.  Ginger is also what gives REPO! that nice initial flavor *kick*

Ginseng

A prized ingredient in Chinese herbal medicine, frequently used to improve physical and mental stamina and to boost immunity. It is an “adaptogenic herb” (or adaptogen), which means it helps our bodies respond to stress while boosting energy. Ongoing research is delving into possible additional benefits such as cardiovascular, respiratory, and anti-cancer effects.

Turmeric

Has been a spice used for millenia in Ayurvedic and East Asian medicine for its numerous beneficial health effects. Its biggest use has been as an anti-inflammatory agent for all forms of arthtritis and tendonitis and research has shown it to be as effective as Ibuprofen without any of the numerous serious side effects of Ibuprofen and other NSAIDs. It is also known to be a powerful antioxidant and vasodilator agent and a recent study from UCLA showed a statistically significant benefit in Alzheimer's disease including causing a reduction in the beta amyloid plaque.

Black Pepper

Another prized herb in Ayurvedic medicine. It has powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and vasodilator effects. In REPO!, it enhances the effects of turmeric, which it does by facilitating its absorption and bioavailability to tissues.

CoQ10

Is a naturally occurring chemical and the main reason it is included in our energy shot is that it plays a crucial role in improving energy production in our cellular Mitochondria, the power plant in every cell of the body. Secondly, it also helps lower blood pressure so it helps balance some of the blood pressure elevating effects of Caffeine and Ginseng, two of the main stimulants in our formula. Over the long term, CoQ 10 also serves as a potent antioxidant and has been used to improve heart muscle function in congestive heart failure.

Citicoline

Is one of the most important chemicals for optimal brain function and is naturally found in our body. Its production in the body decreases with age. It has been used in Japan and Europe (where it is a prescription medicine) for the treatment of stroke and Alzheimer’s disease. It helps our body make Acetylcholine which is a neurotransmitter for both nerve cells in the brain and at the neuromuscular junction of skeletal muscles.
